A Morris County, New Jersey, man has been charged with a crime after a purportedly lengthy crime spree centered on obtaining wedding rings. The man is facing several charges that include robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, theft and weapons offenses. Being charged with a crime is always serious but this man is likely facing an uphill legal battle with the number of charges leveled against him.
He is accused of both attempted robbery and actual robbery of women with wedding rings. The incidents allegedly began on April 18 at a Rockway Township shopping center. Allegedly pointing a handgun at a woman, reports indicated he demanded she surrender her wedding ring. On the following Tuesday, according to authorities, the suspect used a fake weapon to accost another woman in a Wharton parking lot and also told her to give him her rings. She began to scream and the man fled when a bystander began to intervene.
The next day he allegedly stole rings from another woman at the Roxbury Mall. After that incident, the suspect was arrested, and he is currently sitting in the Morris County Jail.
Morris County takes charges like this seriously, and it is likely he will have a legal battle ahead of him. Due to the number of witnesses, this man has a difficult path ahead of him. It would probably be in his best interests to know his legal rights in relation to this case as he attempts to prepare his defense and fights for his continued liberty.
